TRENTON, N.J. – Assemblywoman BettyLou DeCroce’s bill (A1366) to assist the auto sales by ensuring dealers can offer subscription programs as an alternative to leasing or purchasing a vehicle passed the state Assembly Thursday. 

“The passing of this bill will help everyone involved during these tough and uncertain times,” said DeCroce (R-Morris). “The auto dealers now have another revenue stream, while offering consumers the ability to use a vehicle a few months without getting into a long lease or contract.  It’s a win-win situation.”

Audi, Cadillac, and BMW have created similar pilot programs.  Third-party services like Flexdrive have also launched a vehicle subscription service. 

“This bill will deliver a much-needed boost to another industry struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” stated DeCroce. “My father owned car dealerships for over fifty years, so I understand first-hand the important role auto dealerships play in New Jersey and that they need to be protected.”

The General Assembly voted 79-0.
